Blaze Jordan's journey from Southaven to the big leagues is a true hometown story! It's a tale of returning to your roots, of dreams realized, and the sweet taste of success right in your backyard.
The St. Louis Cardinals recently announced that Southaven's own Blaze Jordan, currently the team's No. 20 prospect, will be a special guest at the 2026 Cardinals Caravan. This exciting event is scheduled for Sunday, January 18th, at the Great Hall & Conference Center in Germantown. For Jordan, this is a full-circle moment, returning to the very place where he cheered for the team he now represents.
A Trade That Brought Him Home
Jordan's path to the Cardinals wasn't a straight line. It involved one of the most talked-about moves during the 2025 MLB trade deadline. In a late July deal, the Boston Red Sox traded the promising power hitter to St. Louis in exchange for veteran left-hander Steven Matz.
This trade also reunited Jordan with Cardinals President of Baseball Operations, Chaim Bloom, who originally drafted the DeSoto Central star in the third round of the 2020 MLB Draft.
“It’s kind of surreal,” Jordan shared, reflecting on the transition. “I came to games here when I was younger… to call this my home field now, it’s pretty special.”
Shining in Memphis
Following the trade, Jordan was assigned to the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds, playing just a stone's throw from his childhood home in Southaven. While playing in front of family and friends can bring its own pressures, Jordan finished the 2025 season as a key player in the Redbirds' lineup.
Throughout the 2025 season, split between the Red Sox and Cardinals affiliates, Jordan showcased the impressive bat skills that have made him a rising star. His stats speak volumes:
- 19 home runs
- 99 RBIs
- 28 doubles
- A combined batting average of .270
Focusing on the Future
Jordan isn't resting on his laurels. This offseason, he's focused on improving his agility to be more effective at both first and third base.
“I’ve been working on getting stronger and my agility, trying to be quicker for first and third base,” Jordan explained. “On the offensive side, [I’m] just hitting the ball in the air more. As a corner guy, you need to hit the ball in the air.”
