February just got a whole lot more exciting for Xbox gamers! Imagine streaming your favorite games in stunning 1440p resolution right from your console. That's right, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members can now enjoy sharper visuals and smoother gameplay on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One X, and Xbox One S consoles. But that's not all – we've also rolled out a slew of updates to enhance your overall gaming experience.
Here’s a breakdown of what’s new and why it matters:
Sharper Streams, Smoother Play, Built for Xbox Consoles
Xbox Cloud Gaming is taking a giant leap forward with 1440p streaming and higher bitrate support for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members. This means crisper visuals and more responsive gameplay across supported titles and regions. The rollout has already begun on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One X, and Xbox One S consoles, joining the Xbox PC app, handhelds, supported browsers, select Fire TV devices, LG TVs, and Samsung TVs. With Xbox Cloud Gaming out of beta, we're continuously refining performance, expanding support, and making cloud gaming as seamless as possible. But here's where it gets controversial: Is cloud gaming the future, or will it always play second fiddle to traditional console gaming? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
Listen for New Sounds on the Xbox PC App
We've added subtle navigation sounds to the Xbox PC app to make controller navigation feel more intuitive and responsive. These optional audio cues play during key actions like shifting focus or selecting items, adding a bit more personality to your interactions. Want to customize? Head to Settings > Audio to toggle these sounds on or off and adjust the volume to your liking.
ROG Xbox Ally Updates: More Than Just a Pretty Face
Based on your feedback, we've made several improvements to the ROG Xbox Ally. Now, you can easily format removable storage (including officially licensed SanDisk microSD cards) directly from the Xbox app when installing games. Plus, the Advanced Shader Delivery Indicator lets you know if graphic shaders were pre-compiled for faster and smoother gameplay on supported titles. And this is the part most people miss: These updates aren’t just about convenience – they’re about giving you more control over your gaming experience. What features would you like to see next?
In Case You Missed It: Postgame Recaps and More
Xbox Insiders, rejoice! Postgame Recaps are now available on PC through the Xbox PC app. After your gaming session, you’ll get a recap of achievements unlocked, captures taken, and upcoming in-game events. You can even share feedback to help us improve. Customize your recaps in Settings > App > Postgame. Plus, the updated Xbox Cloud Gaming web experience is now in public preview for Insiders. But here's a thought-provoking question: With so many new features, are we enhancing the gaming experience or complicating it? Share your opinions below!
